This policy explains what you may not do with Future (Built on Future, LLC) and what “fair use” means for anything we call unlimited. It is part of the Future Terms of Service (Section 17). It applies to you, your team, anyone using your account, and any app or agent you connect. Words with capital letters mean what they mean in the Terms of Service.
If you’re not sure whether something is allowed, ask us at support@builtonfuture.com before you do it.
1. Content you may not publish, store or send
Don’t use Future to publish, store, send or link to content that:
- is illegal where you or your audience are, or promotes illegal activity;
- sexually exploits or endangers children in any way (we report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement);
- is sexually explicit or pornographic, including adult entertainment and adult products;
- threatens, harasses, bullies or incites violence against people or groups, or praises or supports violent extremist or terrorist groups;
- attacks people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or veteran status;
- shares someone’s private information without permission (for example home addresses, ID numbers, medical or financial details, or intimate images);
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights, including photos, music, fonts, logos or text you don’t have the right to use;
- impersonates a person, business, government agency or brand, or falsely claims an affiliation, endorsement, license, certification or award;
- is deceptive or fraudulent, for example phishing pages, fake stores, fake charities, get-rich-quick or pyramid schemes, fake giveaways, or pages meant to collect passwords or payment details under false pretenses;
- makes false or unsupported claims that could hurt people, for example claims that a product cures, treats or prevents a disease without the support the law requires, or false claims about safety, licensing or results;
- includes fake reviews or testimonials, reviews you wrote or paid for and present as independent, sample reviews presented as real, or reviews you’ve hidden or filtered in ways the law or the review platform doesn’t allow;
- contains malware, viruses, cryptominers, or code that harms visitors’ devices or tracks them without the notice and consent the law requires;
- sells or promotes goods or services that are illegal, or that our payment processor or the law restricts, without meeting those restrictions. Legal but regulated businesses (for example firearms dealers, alcohol, tobacco and vaping, cannabis, CBD and hemp, gambling, dating, debt relief, payday loans or cryptocurrency) may have an information site where they are legal and licensed, and may use the Shop only where our payment processor allows it;
- uses AI to create realistic fake images, audio or video of real people without their permission, or to mislead people about real events.
2. Email and text messages
When you use Future’s email (and, when available, text) tools:
- Only contact people who agreed to hear from you, or with whom you otherwise have a lawful basis. Don’t upload or send to bought, rented, borrowed, shared or scraped lists, or to addresses collected without consent.
- Include what the law requires in marketing emails: your real business name, a valid physical postal address, and a working unsubscribe. Don’t remove or hide Future’s unsubscribe link or get around the unsubscribe and bounce lists.
- Don’t mislead with sender names, reply-to addresses or subject lines.
- Keep complaint and bounce rates low. As a guide, we may pause sending if your marketing emails get spam complaints above about 0.1% or hard bounces above about 5%, or hit spam traps.
- Don’t use Future to send chain letters, unsolicited bulk email, or messages about things this policy forbids.
- Text messages (Coming soon): get prior express written consent before marketing texts, follow carrier rules and quiet hours, and honor STOP immediately. Don’t text numbers you bought or scraped.
We may pause or limit sending from a site to protect delivery for every customer, and we will tell you why.
3. AI Features
Don’t:
- use the AI Features to create anything this policy forbids;
- try to get around safety limits of the AI Features or our AI providers (for example “jailbreaking”), or get the AI to reveal Future’s instructions, prompts or internal information;
- put hidden instructions in pages, files or form answers meant to make Future’s AI or someone else’s AI do something its owner didn’t intend (prompt injection);
- use Future’s AI to produce content in bulk for use outside your site, for example writing articles, designs or images for other websites, clients or resale, or as a general-purpose AI service;
- use the AI to recreate someone else’s website, logo, brand or copyrighted work you don’t have the right to use;
- automate AI requests with scripts or bots (other than connected apps you’ve set up through our supported connections, used at a normal pace);
- use AI output to train or improve another AI model or a competing product.
4. Free previews, design credits, Future’s design and the money-back guarantee
Don’t:
- create multiple accounts, emails, devices or networks to get more free designs, logos or tweaks than one business is allowed, or to get the money-back guarantee more than once;
- use the free previews to collect logos or designs without buying a plan: Future is a website service, not a free logo or design generator. That includes running the free flow again and again, under different names or emails, or for businesses that aren’t yours, to gather logos or designs;
- use paid design credits to harvest designs: new designs, rebuilds and extra designs are for your own site on Future while you’re subscribed, not for collecting designs to use elsewhere, for other businesses, or after you leave;
- copy, save, scrape, export or host Future’s design or site code outside Future (for example by saving your published pages and hosting them elsewhere), or resell it or turn it into templates, unless you bought the Design Buyout for that site;
- use a logo preview commercially before you buy a plan (on signs, cards, products, social media or a website), or try to remove a preview’s low resolution or marks, or recreate full-quality logo files from it;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to run AI or build work, or get around Allowances or free-preview limits;
- dispute a payment with your bank instead of asking us for a refund, or dispute a charge you agreed to;
- use stolen or someone else’s payment details, or give false details to get a refund.
What happens: we may refuse or reduce a refund (see the Refund Policy), stop giving you free previews, suspend or close your account, refuse future sign-ups, and, for copies of Future’s design hosted elsewhere, send takedown notices where the law allows.
5. Security and the platform
Don’t:
- break into, probe or test Future’s systems, other customers’ sites or accounts, or our providers, without our written permission. If you find a security problem, report it to support@builtonfuture.com and don’t use or share it;
- get around limits, Allowances, access controls, payment, or the publish gate (for example publishing sample content by disguising it);
- scrape, crawl or copy the Service, the Studio, our templates, our design gallery, or other customers’ sites with bots, except normal search-engine indexing of public pages;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract our source code, models, prompts or design engine, except where the law allows it despite this rule;
- put an unreasonable load on the Service: denial-of-service, load testing, or traffic you buy or generate artificially;
- use your site or storage as a file-sharing service, content delivery network, backup drive, or proxy, or to host files mainly for download by other sites or apps;
- run cryptocurrency mining, open proxies, link shorteners or redirect services for others;
- resell, rent, sublicense or white-label the Service, or give access to people outside your team, except as the Terms allow;
- use the Service to build or train a competing product;
- interfere with other customers’ use of Future.
6. Fair use of “unlimited” features
Some features are unlimited, for example forms and contacts on every plan and automations on Premier. Unlimited means you won’t hit a set number in normal use by one small business on one site. It doesn’t mean unlimited for any purpose.
Use is outside fair use if it:
- is far above what similar businesses on the same plan use (as a rough guide, more than 10 times the typical use on that plan);
- comes from automated or fake submissions, imported lists not collected by your site, or use for other businesses or sites;
- uses the feature as a general database, storage or messaging service for something other than your site’s visitors and customers; or
- harms the Service’s performance or other customers.
If your use is outside fair use, we will usually contact you first and work with you, for example by suggesting a different plan or a way to reduce the load. If it’s urgent or harmful, we may limit or pause the feature right away and then tell you.
7. Fair use of Allowances
Allowances (AI use, new designs, rebuilds, marketing emails, pages, file storage, team members, automations) are hard limits that reset monthly. Using all of your Allowances is fine. Getting around them is not, for example by splitting one business across several sites to multiply Allowances, sharing one plan between businesses, or using scripts to make requests faster than a person would.
8. How we enforce this policy
If we believe you or your site broke this policy, we may (depending on how serious it is):
- ask you to fix it;
- remove or disable the content, or unpublish a page or the site;
- pause or limit a feature, such as email sending, the AI Features or the Shop;
- refuse or reduce a refund;
- suspend or close your account or site;
- refuse future sign-ups from you or your business; and
- report illegal activity to law enforcement or the right authorities, and cooperate with them.
Where it’s reasonable we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. We may act right away for illegal content, security threats, fraud, abuse that harms others, or when the law requires it. Our decision not to act on something isn’t permission.
9. Reporting abuse
To report a site or content on Future that breaks this policy, email support@builtonfuture.com with the address of the page and what’s wrong. For copyright complaints, use the process in the Terms of Service (Section 22). We may share your report (without your contact details unless you agree) with the site’s owner.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we give notice as the Terms of Service describe (Section 29). The date and version at the top show the latest version.
