This policy is part of the Future Terms of Service (Section 8). It explains the 15-day money-back guarantee and how refunds work.
The short version
- Ask within 15 days of the first payment for a new plan and we’ll refund that payment, minus what a domain you claimed cost us (the domain stays yours).
- Nothing else is kept back. What you used or downloaded (AI work, designs, builds and rebuilds, your logo files, your content export) doesn’t change your refund.
- The guarantee covers the first payment for a new plan (your first plan with Future). Upgrades, add-ons, top-ups, domains and renewals aren’t refundable. Separately, an add-on’s set-up fee for work we haven’t started is refunded in full (Section 8).
- You can see the refund you’d get in Settings → Your plan before you ask, in one line: what you paid, the domain cost if you claimed one, and your refund.
- When we refund, your plan, your license to use Future’s design, and your rights to the logo and the images Future’s AI made for you end, and your site goes offline when the refund is processed. Your content stays yours: what you added yourself (your words, including words you wrote with AI help, and the photos, files and products you uploaded) and your customers’ details. You can export it for 30 days after the refund. Exporting your content never affects your refund.
- One guarantee per customer and business. We may refuse or reduce a refund for abuse, fraud, chargebacks, excessive or automated use, harvesting designs or logos, or breaking the Acceptable Use Policy.
- After 15 days, payments aren’t refunded, except as below or where the law requires. You can cancel renewal at any time.
1. Who the guarantee covers
The 15-day money-back guarantee applies to the first payment for a new plan, which means your first plan with Future. A plan for another site isn’t a new plan, because the guarantee applies once per customer and business. If your first plan period was free (for example a gift or a giveaway), that was your new plan, and the guarantee doesn’t apply to a later payment.
The guarantee covers the first payment for a new plan. Upgrades, add-ons, top-ups, domains and renewals aren’t refundable. In particular:
- an upgrade or other plan-change charge is never refunded, even one paid during the 15 days, and even though a refund ends the plan (Section 7);
- renewals aren’t refunded (Section 7);
- add-ons and top-ups aren’t refunded (Section 8), except that an add-on’s set-up fee for work we haven’t started is refunded in full under its own rule (Section 8);
- a domain you claimed stays yours, and its cost is kept back from the refund (Section 3.2);
- payments to your own Shop aren’t ours to refund (Section 10).
Section 9 covers our mistakes and your rights under the law.
It applies once per customer and business. We treat accounts, emails, payment cards, payment wallets or accounts, billing addresses, businesses and websites that match an earlier refund as the same customer. A match means a person reviews your request; it never means an automatic refusal.
2. When and how to ask
- Ask within 15 days after the date of the first payment for your new plan, by the end of the 15th day in your own time zone. What counts is when you ask, not when we process it.
- How: open Help in your Studio and ask for a refund, or email support@builtonfuture.com from your account’s email address with your site’s name.
- Only the Payer (the person who paid) or a site owner can ask. We send the refund to the Payer’s original payment method.
3. How we work out your refund
Your refund = the first payment for your new plan − Domain Cost (if you claimed a domain). It is never less than $0 and never more than you paid.
3.1 What you paid
The amount actually charged for that first payment, including any discount or founding price (we refund what you paid, not the list price). Tax we collected is refunded in proportion to the refund.
3.2 Domain Cost
If you claimed a domain included with your plan (Coming soon), we keep back what registering it cost us (the registrar’s and registry’s charges). It’s shown in Settings → Your plan when you claim it. The domain stays yours: it is registered in your name and you can keep using it or move it to another registrar.
3.3 What doesn’t change your refund
Nothing else is kept back. What you used or downloaded doesn’t change your refund, including:
- the AI work done for your account and site, before or after you paid (designs and logo rounds, building your site and any rebuilds, Builder AI edits and chats, and the other AI Features);
- downloading your full logo files (Section 4 says what happens to your logo after a refund);
- exporting your content.
We don’t keep back card processing fees, hosting, email sending, or our team’s time either. The only exceptions are the abuse cases in Section 5.
3.4 Examples (before tax)
| Paid | Domain Cost | Refund | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro, monthly, light use, logo files not downloaded | $47.00 | none claimed | $47.00 |
| Pro, yearly at the founding price, domain claimed, logo files downloaded | $336.00 | $15.00 | $321.00 |
| Premier, yearly, heavy use (many design sets, 2 rebuilds, many AI edits), domain claimed, logo files downloaded | $1,188.00 | $15.00 | $1,173.00 |
| Pro, yearly, renewal a year later (not a new plan) | $468.00 | does not apply | Not refundable (Section 7) |
The domain costs in these examples are illustrations; the real cost of your domain is shown in Settings → Your plan when you claim it.
4. What happens when we refund
When we give a money-back refund (or any refund of a plan payment):
- Your plan ends on the date of the refund. Renewal stops and nothing more is charged.
- Your license to use Future’s design ends, and your site goes offline when the refund is processed. Your custom domain is disconnected from Future; you still own the domain.
- Your content stays yours. You can sign in and export your content and your customers’ details for 30 days after the refund. After a refund, “your content” means what you added yourself: your page text and posts (including words you wrote with the help of Future’s AI), and the photos, files and products you uploaded. Your customers’ details (contacts and form answers) come too. Then we delete them (Terms, Section 21). The export doesn’t include the site’s design or code, the logo Future made for you, or the photos and images Future’s AI made for your pages: your rights in those end with the refund (item 5).
- Copies of the design elsewhere are unlicensed. If you or anyone else hosts a copy of the site’s design or code outside Future without a Design Buyout, you must take it down, and we may send takedown notices where the law allows (Terms, Section 10.4).
- Your logo and AI-made images: your rights to the logo Future made for you, and to the photos and images Future’s AI made for your pages, end with the refund, as your design license does. Nothing is kept back for them. After the refund, don’t use them, or any logo files you downloaded, for your business. A logo or photo you uploaded yourself is your content and stays in your export (Terms, Sections 10.1 and 10.5).
- Coming back later is at the price in effect then. A founding price can’t be used again.
The refund goes back to the original payment method through our payment processor. Banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it. We can’t send it anywhere else.
5. When we may refuse or reduce a refund
We may refuse a refund, or reduce it below what Section 3 gives, if we reasonably believe:
- you already had a money-back refund, or you’re using another account, email, card or business name to get one again;
- there is fraud, a stolen payment method, or false information;
- you disputed the payment with your bank (Section 6);
- you used automated tools or bots, used the Service far beyond normal for one business, or got around Allowances or free-preview limits;
- you used free previews or paid design credits to harvest designs or logos, or copied or hosted the site’s design outside Future without a Design Buyout; or
- you broke the Acceptable Use Policy, or we closed your site for breaking the Terms.
Exporting your content never affects your refund.
If we refuse or reduce a refund, we’ll tell you why. If we refuse, your plan continues and you can cancel renewal as usual.
6. Bank disputes (chargebacks)
Please ask us first. A person usually replies within 1 business day.
If you dispute a charge with your bank or card company instead:
- the guarantee no longer applies to that payment, and we will answer the dispute with our records (including what you agreed to at checkout and what you used);
- we may pause your site while the dispute is open;
- if your bank returns your money, your plan ends as it would after a refund (Section 4); and
- if we lose a dispute about a charge you agreed to, we may close your account and refuse future sign-ups (Terms, Section 20).
7. Renewals and canceling
- After the 15 days, plan payments are not refunded, including for time you don’t use. You can turn renewal off online at any time in Settings → Your plan; your plan then runs to the end of the period you paid for.
- Renewals aren’t refundable, monthly or yearly. Before each yearly renewal we email you at least 30 days ahead with the renewal date and amount, saying that renewals aren’t refundable and how to cancel before that date.
- Switching from yearly to monthly takes effect at once; the unused part of your year becomes a credit on your account toward future charges, not a cash refund. If you claimed a free domain that year, its cost is charged with the switch.
- Upgrades are charged at once for the rest of the period (prorated). Downgrades create a credit on your account, not a cash refund. An upgrade or other plan-change charge is never refunded, even one paid during your first 15 days, and even if a refund later ends your plan.
8. Add-ons and one-time purchases
Add-ons and top-ups aren’t covered by the 15-day guarantee and aren’t refundable, even if you buy them during your first 15 days and even if your plan is later refunded. You can turn an add-on’s renewal off at any time.
Set-up fees have their own rule, separate from the guarantee: an add-on’s one-time set-up fee (for example the $299 set-up for “Your own app”) is refunded in full if we haven’t started the work. Once the work has started, it isn’t refunded. Ask through Help in your Studio.
The Design Buyout (“Take your design with you”, Terms Section 10.3), when we offer it, is a separate one-time purchase. It is not refunded once you’ve downloaded the design export, and a refund of your plan doesn’t refund it. If you buy it and then get a plan refund, your license to host the bought design elsewhere stays.
9. Our mistakes and the law
- If we charged you by mistake (for example a duplicate payment), we refund it in full, with no deductions. Duplicate first payments are refunded automatically.
- If the Service didn’t work for reasons within our control and we couldn’t fix it, we’ll refund fairly, without keeping back the Domain Cost (Section 3).
- If we close the Service or your account without cause, we refund prepaid fees for unused time (Terms, Section 20.3).
- Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the law that can’t be waived. If the law gives you more, you get it.
10. Refunds to your own customers
Refunds for sales on your site (Shop orders, deposits, tickets, gift cards, donations, bookings) are your policy and come from your own Stripe account. Future doesn’t decide them and isn’t responsible for them. Future’s tools let you issue them from the Studio.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Terms describe (Section 29). A change never takes away a refund right you’ve already earned: the money-back guarantee in force when you paid for a new plan applies to that payment. We may change or end the guarantee for future purchases at any time, with notice on our pricing page.
