What is a contact form?

Definition

A contact form is a short form on a website where visitors type their name, contact details and a message, then send it to the business with one button. It saves them opening their email, and it gives you the same details every time. Quote forms and estimate request forms are contact forms built for one job.

Why a contact form matters to a small business

Not everyone wants to call. Some people are at work, some are researching at night, and some just prefer to write. A form catches them when they're ready, and it hands you a request with the details you need to reply properly, rather than a voicemail that says "call me back".

Ask only what you need to give a useful answer. Name, phone or email, and one or two questions about the job are usually enough; every extra field is another reason to give up. A dropdown for the service and a box for the town can save a phone call. Under the button, say what happens next: "We reply within one business day."

For contractors, add the project type, a rough budget and the timing, so the serious jobs stand out. For roofers, ask for the address, the roof's age and whether it's leaking now. For landscaping companies, ask about yard size and whether it's a one-off job or regular care. For plumbers, keep it to three questions for the jobs that can wait, with the phone number above it for the ones that can't.

How to make a contact form people finish

  1. Ask for a name, a phone number or email, and the one detail you need most.
  2. Use a dropdown for your services instead of a blank box.
  3. Keep optional fields few, and mark them as optional.
  4. Label the button with what happens: "Get my quote", not "Submit".
  5. Say when you'll reply, and keep that promise.
  6. Send yourself a test request after every change.
  7. Reply the same day if you can; people often ask more than one business.

How Future handles it

Every Future plan includes unlimited forms. Add a contact or quote form anywhere on your site; each request is emailed to you and filed in Contacts, along with the consent the person gave. There's no form limit on any plan.

Visitor insights put each contact's visit path next to their request, in plain words, so you know which service page they read before they asked. On Pro, a welcome email can go to each new contact who agreed to hear from you, in words you approve; on Premier, the CRM pipeline moves each request toward a signed job.
