What is a service area page?
Definition
A service area page is a page on your website about the work you do in one town, city or neighborhood. Businesses that travel to their customers, like plumbers, roofers and cleaners, use them to show up when people search for a service plus a place, such as "drain cleaning in Mesa".
Why it matters to a small business
Search engines try to show nearby businesses. If your site only says "serving the greater metro area", it gives them little to go on for each town. A page for each area you really serve says it plainly, to people and to search engines.
A good one is about that place, not a copy of every other area page with the town's name swapped in. Mention the jobs you do there most, the neighborhoods, how quickly you can get there, and a review from a customer in that town if you have one.
For plumbing companies, that might be older homes with original pipes in one suburb and new builds in another. For HVAC companies, it's which towns you can reach the same day in a heat wave. For lawn care companies, it's which day of the week you mow each neighborhood.
Start with your busiest areas. A few pages with real detail serve you better than dozens of thin ones that say the same thing, and search engines treat near-identical town pages as spam. Only make pages for places you really serve.
What to put on a service area page
- The town's name in the page title, the main heading and the opening line.
- The jobs you do most in that town, and why they come up there.
- Neighborhoods, landmarks or kinds of homes you know well in the area.
- How quickly you can usually get there, and the hours you cover it.
- A review or a project photo from a customer in that town, if you have one.
- Your phone number and a short quote form, the same as on every page.

How Future handles it
On Future you can add a page for each service and each town you cover: Starter includes up to 50 pages, Pro up to 150 and Premier up to 1,000. Each town page gets a search title and summary of its own, and you can edit any of it yourself.
Write what's true about each area: the jobs, the neighborhoods, the drive time. Your header and footer, with your business name and phone number, are shared by every page, so each area page backs up your Google Business Profile.
